Metal Detecting in Ivanovo Region, Central Russia (Story 16)
Finally we arrived to the point of destination, a huge field in the middle of nowhere. Now we had to locate a camp of other treasure hunters by following the fresh tire marks.
Igor and Andrei Inspecting the Field Road Ahead
The field road was not passable for Andrei's car. His regular sedan with rear-wheel drive, overloaded with treasure hunting gear, could easily get stuck in the mud. The only way to get to the campsite, wherever it was, would be to drive directly across the field and try to avoid the numerous wet spots and depressions. So Igor telephoned one of his friends at the camp and asked him to bring his Jeep over and escort Andrei's car all the way just in case.
The Road Was Bad Enough for a Regular Car
While Andrei was waiting for Jeep, Igor and I went to the camp on foot to ease the weight of an overloaded vehicle. We were already at the camp when Andrei's Lada appeared with roar...
...leaving the Jeep "Wrangler" way behind.
Archaic Soviet-Made "Lada" Made It to the Camp!
