I have purchased 5 of these pinpointers. Three work well, and two lack sensitivity. Some need the search coil pushed down into the end of the housing to maximize sensitivity. If digging a hole into sea water, they will sometimes beep all the time when immersed in the water. It does seem to depend a bit on the sort of sand I am digging in. I tend to be harsh on my pinpointer and use it as a bit of a digging tool to locate the target in sandy soils wearing it through the tip. I have added a 3D-printed cap to one and it works well. I can abuse it and not worry about the tip wearing out. Overall, I am happy with these. Is it as good as a Garret or similar? For the $25 price tag, I am content.
