Good Detector with Poor Build Quality in Some Areas
by Mr. Upset in australia -
Great little detector when it is running. But me being forgetful, I left my batteries in, and they leaked and rusted the terminals. And when I pulled it apart, the internal battery housing was just stuck to the back of the speaker with a square bit of double sided tape. Before pulling it off the tape, I noticed the battery housing did not have any real placement slots or supports to really keep it anchored in a fixed position. That said, I cleaned up the internal battery springs. They pulled out easily with their wires still attached, which you can then unplug from the main circuit board. I then put it all back together, but still no power-on. So I am going to have to anchor the blooming battery housing so when I close the battery door, the stupid unanchored housing does not move. I expected a lot more build quality from Minelab even though it is a cheap detector. It might as well have been made in China. This puts me off buying Minelab for my next detector.

The Coin Shooting Depth Monster
by Terry Wilson in Newcastle. UK -
I have used the X-Terra 305 for over ten years and I have found over 2000.00 in gold rings and bangles on the beeches along with over 100 hammered coins at club digs and that many Roman I have lost count. I eventually upgraded my coil after five years of using for a high frequency one for pasture and I kept the other original lower frequency coil for stubble fields where it never lets me down. I have three X-Tterra 305s now. for my son and my wife as well. Great machines.

Awesome
by Dave Catmull in Salt Lake City, Utah -
I have owned this Minelab 305 for more than year. I love this machine. I have found many coins and jewelery with this detector. I used this on some beaches and it does super well unless there is a ton of black sand, then it tends to throw false signals. The settings are easy to use.I have owned Ace 250, 350, Teknetics, and bounty Hunter machines. Hands down this is my favorite machine. Excellent for beginners.

It Only Finds Junk
by Rick W. in Sherwood,Arkansas. USA -
I got my 305 about a week ago. I was using my mom's Whites detector and I found coins with hers, but this new minelab 305 I have found only ONE penny. I have found so much junk! Even with the LCD screen showing what should be coins is junk. When I put a coke cap and a quarter on the ground about two inches apart, the Minelab 305 couldn't tell me what it was. I don't know if I got a defected detector (just my luck) or what? And the manual does not explain anything in detail. It just shows some pictures and few words. Wish I had one that worked good because I like to metal detect.
