First Impressions of My Go-Find Detector

by James Cairns in England UK - good

This an excellent detector for both dry AND wet sand. It is very compact with its clever folding design BUT its shaft is not rigid enough especially near the control panel-handle which wobbles. This movement is transferred along the whole shaft when sweeping the detector!! It spoils an otherwise great machine. Had the shaft been made of carbon fibre, yes very expensive, it would have been more rigid. Just using thicker plastic molding might have solved the problem. The new Go-Find 44 and 66 are supposed to be better, but I have not tried them. So I have made my own L-shaped bracket to support the handle so it no longer moves. I am using a metal strip attached with lots of velcro for an easy removal. And the detector is folded up as usual. I am also not very happy about the top sliding section which folds too easily off its locking notches. These will eventually lose their grip over time. These are not cheap detectors, but poor design materials lets it down.
