Thanks, But No Thanks!

I got these headphones free of charge for field-testing with my XP Deus metal detector. As I had never used the wired Grey Ghost headphones (and I wish I had) prior to the field-test, I could only compare their audio quality to other full ear-cup/over-ear wired headphones that I used in the past, and to the XP WS4 wireless headphones for the Deus I have been using since 2011. When I took the Grey Ghost headset out of a box, I noticed its rugged construction. When I put the headset on, it felt tight on my head and would not slide off my ears if I forcefully nodded my head. And the sound-blocking muffs did the job - I could not hear any ambient noise, as claimed by the DetectorPro manufacturer. These are the only positive points I can name.
The "soup hit the fan" when I began field-testing the Grey Ghost headphones at a hunt site - a cellar hole littered with iron trash: the headphones’ terrible audio put me in shock and confusion! No matter how I wiggled a search coil, I was not able to isolate tiny signals of the high-pitched tone (indication of possibly a good non-ferrous target partially masked by iron) from the low-tone responses to iron junk. I absolutely could not use my search program that I designed specifically for metal detecting around cellar holes and in trashy areas, and which had proved to be very effective when the Deus was used with the XP WS4 headphones.
The audio quality of the wireless Grey Ghost headphones was worse than audio quality of any wire full ear-cup headphones I ever used in the past, and could not match the sharp and clear audio of the XP WS4 headphones, as well as WS5 headphones, designed specifically for the Deus - a TONAL metal detector! It seemed that the Grey Ghost headphones were not designed for the Deus because they simply do not comply with the Deus’ concept of Tonal Discrimination.
If you would like to learn all details of my field-test report on the wireless Grey Ghost headphones, please read my 5-page in-depth review here: http://www.metaldetectingworld.com/detectorpro-grey-ghost-headphones-for-xp-deus.shtml (copy a link and paste it into your browser window)
I will never use the wireless Grey Ghost headphones again. If I want to use the full ear-cup headset with my Deus (during winter months or to block ambient noise), the XP WS5 headset would be my only choice. As for the Grey Ghost headphones for the XP Deus, well, nice try! Thanks, but no thanks!
